Institute of Business Management:
The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) is a business school in Pakistan. IoBM is composed of three premier colleges located in Karachi , the College of Business Management (CBM), the College of Economics and Social Development (CESD), and the College of Computer Science and Information Systems (CCSIS). The university offers degrees at both the Bachelor and Master levels including the MBA program in several disciplines including Marketing, Finance, and Human Resource Management. In August 2007, IoBM started a High School, Creek High School, offering classes from Grade 1 to A-levels.
Overview:
IoBM started as College of Business Management, which only offered BBA and MBA degrees. Since the inception of CBM, it has grown rapidly. IoBM comprises CBM (College of Business Management), College of Computer and Information sciences, College of Industrial Engineering and College of Economics and Social Sciences. These different institutions are under the umbrella of IoBM.
Shahjehan Karim is the President, Talib Karim, son of Shahjehan Karim is the Executive Director Academic Affairs and Sabina Mohsin is the Executive Director Administration & Finance.
IoBM has extensive links with North American Universities. Professors from the Universities of Arizona State and Brock have served as Chief Academic Officers of CBM. The present CBM Dean has over 38 years of experience at the State Bank of Pakistan and Dean, CCSIS has over twelve years teaching experience in US and Pakistani universities. IoBM enjoys the active support of Pakistan's leading firms and banks, both national and multinational. IoBM students have gone abroad for higher studies to Harvard,Rutgers, Drexel, New York University and other business schools in Europe, USA and Canada.
IoBM's BBA , BCS and BS Joint (Honors) programs have a compulsory foreign language component (Arabic, French, Spanish, German, Japanese and Italian). IoBM has a highly qualified faculty with most faculty members holding foreign Ph.D. and Masters degrees. IoBM is operating a program to enhance the skills and qualifications of its academic faculty. IoBM is the only Pakistani business school with a full fledged research program. The Institute publishes the country's only business research journal, Pakistan Business Review and offers MBA Finance, Human Resource Management and Marketing specialists the opportunity to transfer to an MPhil program with Ph.D track based on course work and thesis.
Organizations such as The Aga Khan University Hospital, Berger Paints, Standard Chartered Bank, CitiBank, Faysal Bank, ICI, Philips Electrical Industries, Unilever and BP Pakistan offer internships to IoBM students. The society of Business Engineers awarded CBM with "Excellence in Business Education" in August 2007.
