Education Expo 2011 - Rapunzel - 05-25-2011 ![]() Lahore: The two-day International Education Expo 2011, which started at the PC Hotel here on Tuesday, attracted a large number of prospective students on the first day. The event, organised by HR Consultations (pvt) Ltd in collaboration with the Jang Group, is representing dozens of top universities and colleges from across the world, mainly from the UK, Canada, the US and Australia. The participating institutions are offering a wide range of academic programmes, including business management, computing and IT, engineering, fashion and design, communication studies, law, architecture, public health and medicine, agriculture, etc. Representatives of the foreign institutions have set up stalls in the expo to provide on the spot comprehensive information to the prospective students seeking admissions to top-ranking educational institutions of the UK and many other countries. A number of visiting students said they had detailed discussions with the representatives of the foreign universities and colleges about their prospects of studying abroad. They termed the presence of recognized professionals in the field of foreign education the most beneficial part of the expo. They were of the view that such events should be organized on regular basis as the same were of great help for those planning to study abroad. Irfan, a student, said he had liked the expo as it had provided him an opportunity to have interaction with recognized professionals in the field of foreign education. Another visitor, Haider, expressed similar views, saying discussion with experts had helped him as well as many other students like him. University of Hertfordshires marketing manager, Akif Khan, said the response on the first day of the Education Expo 2011 was good, adding the participating institutions were expecting tremendous response on the concluding day (today). Talking about his university, Akif said the varsity had 21 schools and was offering more than 550 different academic programmes. Around 500 Pakistani students were currently enrolled in different programmes at the varsity, he added. Navitas country manager (North America) Adeel Saeed Mir said that they, in collaboration with two top varsities in the Canada and five universities in the US, were offering various academic programmes in different disciplines. Zohaib Raheem, representing Thames College London, said that most of the visiting students were interested in academic programmes related to business and management. He was of the view that the prospective students must visit the expo to get firsthand and comprehensive information related to their prospects of studying in the UK and many other countries. The expo will also continue from 11am to 7pm at PC Hotel on Wednesday (today).
