Other - Maulana Mohammad Hussain Azad and 'qalam'

The author of Aab-e-Hayaat, Maulana Mohammad Hussain Azad was teaching in

Government College Lahore.

Some one asked him as to why the word "qalam" was masculine in Urdu.

(In Punjabi, it is feminine.)

Azad lifted a pen from his desk,

plunged it into the inkpot and said: "That is why."
