Incomplete Picture

Looking Back, it all seems so simple,
The twisted journey of day and night,
Of months and years, could have been,
Made much easier to travel through.
These tangled pathways on each turning,
Could have been arranges in batter fashion.
Had we trodden more carefully then,
This inhospitable house,
Walls of which reflects desolation,
Windows, distressed and bewildered,
Mornings that bear the burden of eves,
Could have been more peaceful to live in.
Fate could have been more merciful,
Time more tolerant, than what it is today.
Now that the scenes seems clearer,
The fore and the background too,
But how good is repentance my love?
It may be easier to say it now
but
what good is looking back
pandering over days gone-by,
What was meant to be is done,
Words carved on the stone of fate,
Can never be obliterated.
Fate is like the attendance call,
For those who do not respond,
Are left unattended forever,
Like birds that have lost their songs.
Lines kept breaking with changing words,
And the story remain untold like ever,
Few incomplete sketches are
All that is left in life,
The picture has remained unfinished.

In Urdu

Koi Tasweer Mukammal Nahi Hone Paayi

Ab jo dekien tho koi aisi barri baat na thi
Yeh shab-o-roz mah-o-saal ka pur paich safar
Kadre asaan bhi ho saktha tha!
Yeh jo har morr pe kuch uljey hue rasthey hai
In mein tarteeb ka imkaan bhi ho saktha tha
Hum zara dihaan se chalthey tho who ghar
Jis K baam-o-dar-o-deewaar pe veeraani hai!
Jis ki har subah mein shaamo ki pareshaani hai!
Uss mein ham chain se abaad bhi ho sakthey thay
Bakht se aman ki raahein bhi nikal sakthi thi
Waqt se sulah ka paimaan bhi ho saktha tha
Ab jo dekein tho bohut saaf nazar aathay hai
Saare manzar bhi passe-e-manzr bhi
Lekin iss dair khayaali ka sila kiya hoga?
Yeh tho sab baad ki baathein hai meri jaan inhein,
Dekthey, sochthey rehney se bala kiya hoga?
Who jo hona tha, hua-----------ho bhi chuka,
Waqt ki louh pe liki hui tehreer K harf
Khat-e-tanseekh se await hi nahi
Bakht makthab k register ki thara hotha hai
Apne number par jo ‘Labaik’ nahi keh paathey
Un ka kuch uzr nahi---------------koi bhi faryaad nahi
Yeh who taair hai jinhein apni no ayaad nahi
Linein kat’thi rahi lafz badalney k sabab
Koi tehreer musalsal nahi hone paayi
Haasil-e-umr-----yahi chand adhoore khaake
Koi tasweer, mukammal nahi hone paayi

now it seems it wasn't such a big thing
the journey on the sinuous paths
of days and nights, of months and years
could have been passable,
the tortuos lanes at each bend
could have been laid in ways passable.
were we a little careful
the desolate house with doors, walls and windows
where daybreaks bring the evenings' anxiety
could have been peacefully liveable.
