Kuch bakht main dheron kalak thi kuch ghazab ka kaal para
Ham rakh leay hain jholi main or sar peh hay sahokar khara
Jab dharti sahara sahara thi ham darya darya roay thay
Jab hath ki rekhain chup thin or sur e sangeet main khoay thay
Tab ham nay jewan kheti main kuch khuab anokhay boay thay
Kuch khuab sajal muskanon kay kuch bool boht dewanon kay
Kuch lafz jinhain ma'ani na millain kuch geet shikasta janon kay
Kuch neer o wafa ki shamon kay kuch pagal parwanon kay
Phir apni ghail aankhon say kush ho kay lahoo chirkaya tha
maati main maas ki khaad bhai or nas nas ko zakhmaya tha
Or bhool gay pichli rutt main kia khoya kia paya tha
Jab fasal kati to kia dekha kuch dard kay tootay gajray thay
kuch zakhmi khuab thay kanton per kuch khakastar say gajray thay
Or door ufaq kay sagar main kuch doltay doltay bajray thay
Ab paon kharaon dhool bhari or taan peh joog ka chola hay
sab sangi sathi bhaid bharay koi masha hay koi toola hay
Ab ghaat hay na ghar dehliz hay na dar aab pass raha kia hay baba
Bas yeh taan ki gathri baki hay ja yeh bhi too lay ja baba
Ham basti ko choray jata hain too apna qarz chuka baba.
