Satan in the spotlight!! must read!
Assalaam Alaikum Wa Rehmatullahi Wa Barakatahu
I compiled this for myself as an exhortation and i hope it helps you too in being vigilant 24/7 regarding our worst enemy( which you might have guessed --> ) 'mr satan'. i found some truly amazing ahadith and Quranic verses so i just put them together in this document. i know it looks long but please read it ,its very intersting.

Purpose of life and death:
Blessed is He in Whose hand is the Sovereignty, and He is Able to do all things. 67:1 Who hath created life and death that He may try you, which of you is best in conduct; and He is the Mighty, Forgiving, 67:2

And verily We shall try you till We know those of you who strive hard (for the cause of Allah) and the steadfast, and till We test your record. 47:31

O Children of Adam! Let not Satan seduce you as he caused your (first) parents to go forth from the Garden and tore off from them their robe (of innocence) that be might manifest their shame to them. Lo! he seeth you, he and his tribe, from whence ye see him not. Lo! We have made the devils protecting friends for those who believe not. 7:27

The Beginning:
And verily We made a covenant of old with Adam, but he forgot, and We found no constancy in him. 20:115

And when We said unto the angels: Fall prostrate before Adam, they fell prostrate (all) save Iblis; he refused. 20:116 He said: Then go down hence! It is not for thee to show pride here, so go forth! Lo! thou art of those degraded. 7:13
satans promise:
he said: Seest Thou this (creature) whom Thou hast honored above me, if Thou give me grace until the Day of Resurrection I verily will seize his seed, save but a few. 17:62 he said: My Lord, Because Thou has sent me astray, I verily shall adorn the path of error for them in the earth, and shall mislead them every one. 15:39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 15:40 verily I shall lurk in Ambush for them on Thy Right Path.(extract from7:16) Then I shall come upon them from before them and from behind them and from their right Hands and from their left hands, and Thou wilt not find most of them beholden (unto Thee). 7:17And surely I will lead them astray, and surely I will arouse desires in them, and surely I will command them and they will cut the cattle's ears, and surely I will command them and they will change Allah's creation. (extract from 4:119) he promiseth them and stirreth up desires in them, and Satan promiseth them only to beguile. 4:120

He said: Go, and whosoever of them followeth thee lo! your payment, ample payment.17:63 And excite any of them whom thou canst with thy voice, and urge thy horse and foot against them, and be a partner in their wealth and children, and promise them. Satan promiseth them only to deceive.17:64 He said: Go forth from hence, degraded, banished. As for such of them as follow thee, surely I will fill hell with all of you. 7:18

Satans first evil acheivment:
Therefor We said: O Adam! This is an enemy unto thee and unto thy wife, so let him not drive you both out of the Garden so that thou come to toil. 20:117 Then Iblis roamed round him to see what actually that was and when he found him hollow from within, he recognised that he had been created with a disposition that he would not have control over himself. (Sahih Muslim Book 032, extract from Hadith Number 6319.)But the Devil whispered to him, saying: O Adam! Shall I show thee the tree of immortality and power that wasteth not away? 20:120 Then they twain ate thereof, so that their shame became apparent unto them, and they began to hide by heaping on themselves some of the leaves of the Garden.And Adam disobeyed his Lord, so went astray.20:121 And their Lord called them, (saying): Did I not forbid you from that tree and tell you: Lo! Satan is an open enemy to you? (extract from7:22 )

then his Lord chose him, and relented toward him, and guided him. 20:122 He said: Go down hence, both of you, one of you a foe unto the other. But if there come unto you from Me a guidance, then whoso followeth My guidance, he will not go astray nor come to grief. 20:123But he who turneth away from remembrance of Me,his will be a narrow life, and I shall bring him blind to the assembly on the Day of Resurrection. 20:124 He will say:My Lord! Wherefore hast Thou gathered me (hither) blind, when I was wont to see? 20:125 He will say: So (it must be). Our revelations came unto thee but thou didst forget them. In like manner thou art forgotten this Day.20:126


The sending down of guidance as promised to adam (described in verse 20:123):
" He said: Go down hence, both of you, one of you a foe unto the other.But if there come unto you from Me a guidance, then whoso followeth My guidance, he will not go astray nor come to grief. 20:123

A man told, "I was a foreteller in the pre-lslamic period of ignorance." Then 'Umar said, "Tell me the most astonishing thing your female Jinn has told you of." He said, "One-day while I was in the market, she came to me scared and said, 'Haven't you seen the Jinns and their despair and they were overthrown after their defeat (and prevented from listening to the news of the heaven) so that they (stopped going to the sky and) kept following camel-riders (i.e. 'Arabs)?" 'Umar said, "He is right." and added, "One day while I was near their idols, there came a man with a calf and slaughtered it as a sacrifice (for the idols). An (unseen) creature shouted at him, and I have never heard harsher than his voice. He was crying, 'O you bold evil-doer! A matter of success! An eloquent man is saying: None has the right to be worshipped except you (O Allah).' On that the people fled, but I said, 'I shall not go away till I know what is behind this.' Then the cry came again: 'O you bold evil-doer! A matter of success! An eloquent man is saying: None has the right to be worshipped except Allah.' I then went away and a few days later it was said, "A prophet has appeared." (Sahih Bukhari Vol 5, Book 58.,extract from Hadith 206. )

By Allah, We verily sent messengers unto the nations before thee, but the devil made their deeds fair seeming unto them. (extract from 16:63 ) Messengers of good cheer and off warning, in order that mankind might have no argument against Allah after the messengers. Allah was ever Mighty, Wise. 4:165

there had been (at that time) obstructions between satans and the news from the Heaven, and there were flung flames upon them. So satan went back to their people and they said: What has happened to you? They said: There have been created obstructions between us and the news from the Heaven. And there have been flung upon us flames. They said: It cannot happen but for some (important) event. So traverse the eastern parts of the earth and the western parts and find out why is it that there have been created obstructions between us and the news from the Heaven. So they went forth and traversed the easts of the earth and its wests. Some of them proceeded towards Tihama and that is a nakhl towards the bazaar of 'Ukaz and he (the Holy Prophet) was leading his Companions in the morning prayer. So when they heard the Qur'an, they listened to it attentively and said: It is this which has caused obstruction between us and news from the Heaven. They went back to their people and said: O our people, we have heard a strange Qur'an which directs us to the right path; so we affirm our faith in it and we would never associate anyone with our Lord. (Sahih Muslim Book 004, extract from Hadith Number 0902. )

And this (Quran) is a blessed Scripture which We have revealed, confirming that which (was revealed) before it, that thou mayst warn the Mother of Villages and those around her. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe herein, and they are careful of their worship. 6:92


Satans plots:
1)Everyone has a devil attached to him:
Aysha (razi Allahu anha) said: Allah's Messenger, is there along with me a devil? He said: Yes. I said: Is devil attached to everyone? He said: Yes. I ('Aisha) again said: Allah's Messenger, is it with you also? He said: Yes, but my Lord has helped me against him and as such I am absolutely safe from his mischief.(Sahih Muslim Book 039, extract Hadith Number 6759.)

Jabir reported: I heard Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) as saying: The Satan is present with any one of you in everything he does; (extract from a hadith quoted later on in this article under 'food' section)

2)Jealousy:
'Aisha the wife of Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him), reported that one day Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) came out of her (apartment) during the night and she felt jealous. Then he came and he saw me (in what agitated state of mind) I was. He said: 'Aisha, what has happened to you? Do you feel jealous? Thereupon she said: How can it he (that a woman like me) should not feel jealous in regard to a husband like you. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: It was your devil who had come to you,……...(Sahih Muslim Book 039, extract Hadith Number 6759.)

3)Satan touches every child at the time of its birth:
Narated By Abu Huraira : The Prophet said, "When any human being is born. Satan touches him at both sides of the body with his two fingers, except Jesus, the son of Mary, whom Satan tried to touch but failed, for he touched the placenta-cover instead." (Sahih Bukhari Vol 004, Book 054, Hadith Number 506.)

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The crying of the child (starts) when the Satan begins to prick him. (Sahih Muslim Book 30. The Excellent Qualities Of The Holy Proph.... Hadith 5839. )

4)Satan turns away people from the right religion:
I(Allah) have created My servants as one having a natural inclination to the worship of Allah but it is Satan who turns them away from the right religion and he makes unlawful what has been declared lawful for them and he commands them to ascribe partnership with Re, although he has no justification for that. (Sahih Muslim Book 040,extract from Hadith Number 6853.)

And if it be said unto them: Follow that which Allah hath revealed, they say: Nay, but we follow that wherein we found our fathers. What! Even though the devil were inviting them unto the doom of flame? 31:21

5)Divert from rememberance of Allah:
Satan seeketh only to cast among you enmity and hatred by means of strong drink and games of chance, and to turn you from remembrance of Allah and from (His) worship. Will ye then have done? 5:91

establish prayers for My remembrance. (extract from 20:14)

The devil hath engrossed them and so hath caused them to forget remembrance of Allah.(extract of 58:19 )

O ye who believe! Let not your wealth nor your children distract you from remembrance of Allah. Those who do so, they are the losers.63:9


6)Raising bad notions in ones mind:
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah may peace be upon him) observed: The Satan comes to everyone of you and says: Who created this and that? till he questions: Who created your Lord? When he comes to that, one should seek refuge in Allah and keep away (from such idle thoughts). (Sahih Muslim Sahih Muslim Book 001, Hadith Number 0244.)


Narrated By Safiya bint Huyai: The wife of the Prophet that she went to Allah's Apostle while he was in Itikaf (staying in the mosque) during the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan. She spoke to him for an hour (a while) at night and then she got up to return home. The Prophet got up to accompany her, and when they reached the gate of the mosque opposite the dwelling place of Um Salama, the wife of the Prophet, two Ansari men passed by, and greeting Allah's Apostle , they quickly went ahead. Allah's Apostle said to them, "Do not be in a hurry She is Safiya, the daughter of Huyai." They said, "Subhan Allah! O Allah's Apostle (how dare we suspect you)." That was a great thing for both of them. The Prophet then said, "satan runs in the body of Adam's son (i.e. man) as his blood circulates in it, and I was afraid that he (satan) might insert an evil thought in your hearts." (Sahih Bukhari Vol 8, Book 73. Good Manners And Form (Al-Adab). Hadith 238. )

Narated By Abdullah ibn Abbas : A man came to the Prophet (pbuh) and said: Apostle of Allah! one of us has thoughts of such nature that he would rather be reduced to charcoal than speak about them. He said: Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great. Praise be to Allah Who has reduced the guile of the devil to evil prompting..(Abu Dawud Book 036, extract of Hadith Number 5093)


7)Devil makes you forget important things:
For every announcement there is a term, and ye will come to know.6:67 And when thou seest those who meddle with Our revelations, withdraw from them until they meddle with another topic. And if the devil cause thee to forget, sit not, after the remembrance, with the congregation of wrong doers.6:68

Narated By Ubai bin Kab : That he heard Allah's Apostle saying, "(The prophet) Moses said to his attendant, "Bring us our early meal' (18.62). The latter said, 'Did you remember when we betook ourselves to the rock? I indeed forgot the fish and none but Satan made me forget to remember it." (18.63) Moses did not feel tired till he had crossed the place which Allah ordered him to go to." (Sahih Bukhari Vol 004, Book 054, Hadith Number 498) for details check out surah kahaf ie chapter no 18 .

And he(Joseph) said unto him of the twain who he knew would be released: Mention me in the presence of thy lord. But Satan caused him to forget to mention it to his lord, so he (Joseph) stayed in prison for some years. 12:42 details check out surah yusuf ie chapter no 12.


8)Inciting fear of people:
Those unto whom men said: Lo! the people have gathered against you, therefor fear them. (The threat of danger) but increased the faith of them and they cried: Allah is sufficient for us! Most Excellent is He in Whom we trust! 3:173 So they returned with grace and favor from Allah, and no harm touched them. They followed the good pleasure of Allah, and Allah is of infinite bounty. 3:174 It is only the devil who would make (men) fear his partisans. Fear them not; fear Me, if ye are true believers. 3:175

Those who believe do battle for the cause of Allah; and those who disbelieve do battle for the cause of idols. So fight the minions of the devil. Lo! the devil's strategy is ever weak. 4:76

9)Squandering (A recklessly extravagant consuming):
Lo! the squanderers were ever brothers of the devils, and the devil was ever an ingrate to his Lord. 17:27


10)Inciting Anger:
Narated By Mu'adh ibn Jabal : Two men reviled each other in the presence of the Prophet (pbuh) and one of them became excessively angry so much so that I thought that his nose will break up on account of excess of anger. The Prophet (pbuh) said: I know a phrase which, if he repeated, he could get rid of this angry feeling. They asked: What is it, Apostle of Allah? He replied: He should say: I seek refuge in Thee from the accursed devil. Mu'adh then began to ask him to do so, but he refused and persisted in quarrelling, and began to enhance his anger. (Abu Dawud Book 036, Hadith Number 4762. )
What to do:
Narated By AbuDharr : The Apostle of Allah (pbuh) said to us: When one of you becomes angry while standing, he should sit down. If the anger leaves him, well and good; otherwise he should lie down.(Abu Dawud Book 036, Hadith Number 4764.)

Anger comes from the devil, the devil was created of fire, and fire is extinguished only with water; so when one of you becomes angry, he should perform ablution.(Abu Dawud Book 036, extract from Hadith Number 4766)

Narated By Mu'adh ibn Jabal : The Apostle of Allah (pbuh) said: if anyone suppresses anger when he is in a position to give vent to it, Allah, the Exalted, will call him on the Day of Resurrection over the heads of all creatures, and ask him to choose any of the bright and large eyed maidens he wishes.(Abu Dawud Book 036, Hadith Number 4759.)


11)Hatred ,Enmity ,Dissension:
Satan seeketh only to cast among you enmity and hatred by means of strong drink and games of chance(extract 5:91)

Jabir reported: I heard Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) as saying: Verily, the Satan has lost all hopes that the worshippers would ever worship (him) in the peninsula of Arabia, but he (is hopeful) that he would sow the seed of dissension amongst them. (Sahih Muslim Book 39. Giving Description Of The Day Of Judgemen.... Hadith 6752. )

The most dearer persons to Iblis:Jabir reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Iblis places his throne upon water; he then sends detachments (for creating dissension); the nearer to him in rank are those who are most notorious in creating dissension. One of them comes and says: I did so and so. And he says: You have done nothing. Then one amongst them comes and says: I did not spare so and so until I sowed the seed of discord between a husband and a wife. The Satan goes near him and says: 'You have done well. A'mash said: He then embraces him.(Sahih Muslim Book 039, Hadith Number 6755.)

Tell My bondmen to speak that which is kindlier. Lo! the devil soweth discord among them. Lo! the devil is for man an open foe. 17:53

An example of strife ->and he(joseph) said: O my father! This is the interpretation of my dream of old. My Lord hath made it true, and He hath shown me kindness, since He took me out of the prison and hath brought you from the desert after satan had made strife between me and my brethren (extract from 12:100 ) for details check out surah yusuf ie chapter no 12

12)Unintentional murder :
Abu Huraira reported a hadith from Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him); (one of them was this) that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: None amongst you should point a weapon towards his brother, for he does not know that Satan might cause the weapon (to slip) from his hand and (he may injure anyone) and thus he may fall into Hell-Fire.(Sahih Muslim Book 032, Hadith Number 6338.)

example->Satan made Moses( peace be upon him) unintentionally kill a man: And he (moses) entered the city at a time of carelessness of its folk, and he found therein two men fighting, one of his own caste, and the other of his enemies; and he who was of his caste asked him for help against him who was of his enemies. So Moses struck him with his fist and killed him. He said: This is of the devil's doing. Lo! he is an enemy, a mere misleader. 28:15 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have wronged my soul, so forgive me. Then He forgave him. Lo! He is the Forgiving, the Merciful. 28:16 as described in hadith "Moses killed a person from among the people of pharaoh unintentionally " (SAHIH MUSLIM ,BOOK 41 , extract from Hadith 6943)


That (unintentional murder which resembles intentional murder) means that Satan jumps among the people and then the blood is shed blindly without any malice and weapon.(Abu Dawud Book 034, extract from Hadith Number 4548) example of unintentional murder : "Narated By 'Aisha : On the day (of the battle) of Uhud when the pagans were defeated, Satan shouted, "O slaves of Allah! Beware of the forces at your back," and on that the Muslims of the front files fought with the Muslims of the back files (thinking they were pagans). Hudhaifa looked back to see his father "Al-Yaman," (being attacked by the Muslims). He shouted, "O Allah's Slaves! My father! My father!" By Allah, they did not stop till they killed him. Hudhaifa said, "May Allah forgive you." 'Urwa said that Hudhaifa continued to do good (invoking Allah to forgive the killer of his father till he met Allah (i.e. died).(Sahih Bukhari Vol 004, Book 054, Hadith Number 510)"

13)Hindering in prayers:
Preventing from waking up for tahajjud prayer:Narated By Abu Huraira : Allah's Apostle said, "Satan puts three knots at the back of the head of any of you if he is asleep. On every knot he reads and exhales the following words, 'The night is long, so stay asleep.' When one wakes up and remembers Allah, one knot is undone; and when one performs ablution, the second knot is undone, and when one prays the third knot is undone and one gets up energetic with a good heart in the morning; otherwise one gets up lazy and with a mischievous heart."(Sahih Bukhari Vol 002, Book 021, Hadith Number 243. )

Stealing from the prayer:Narated By 'Aisha : I asked Allah's Apostle about looking hither and thither in prayer. He replied, "It is a way of stealing by which Satan takes away (a portion) from the prayer of a person."(Sahih Bukhari Vol 001, Book 012, Hadith Number 718.)


Reaction to the call of prayer:Abu Sufyan reported it on the authority of Jabir that he had heard the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) say: When SATAN hears the call to prayer, he runs away to a distance like that of Rauha. Sulaimin said: I asked him about Rauha. He replied: It is at a distance of thirty-six miles from Medina. (Sahih Muslim Book 4. Prayer. Hadith 0751)

Reaction to the call of prayer:Abu Huraira reported: The Apostle (may peace be upon him) said When the call to prayer is made, SATAN runs back and breaks wind so as not to hear the call being made, and when the call is finished, he turns round. When Iqama is proclaimed he turns his back, and when it is finished he turns round to distract a man, saying: Remember such and such; remember such and such, referring to something the man did not have in his mind, with the result that he does not know how much he has prayed. (Sahih Muslim Book 4. Prayer. Hadith 0756. )

Reaction to the call of prayer:Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: The devil takes to his heels breaking wind when the prayer begins. and the rest is the same but with this addition: "He (the devil) makes him think of pleasant things (or things productive of enjoyment) and of the things wished for, and reminds him of such needs which he had forgotten."(Sahih Muslim Book 004, Hadith Number 1162.)

What to do if one has forgotten how much rakahs he has prayed:Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: When any one of you is in doubt about his prayer and he does Dot know how much he has prayed, three or four (rak'ahs), he should cast aside his doubt and base his prayer on what he is sure of, then perform two prostrations before giving salutations. If he has prayed five rak'ahs, they will make his prayer an even number for him, and if he has prayed exactly four, they will be humiliation for the devil. (Sahih Muslim Book 004, Hadith Number 1166.)
Another plot during prayers:Narated By AbuSa'id al-Khudri : The Prophet (pbuh) said: When one of you prays, and he does not know whether he prayed more or less rak'ahs (than those prescribed by the Shari'ah), he should perform two prostrations while he is sitting. If the devil comes to him, and tells him (suggests him): "You have been defiled," he should say: "You have told a lie," except that he feels smell with his nose, or sound with his ears (then his ablution will break). These are the wording; of the tradition reported by Aban.(Abu Dawud Book 002, Hadith Number 1024.)

What to do:Uthman b. Abu al-'As reported that he came to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) and said: Allah's Messenger, the Satan intervenes between me and my prayer and my reciting of the Qur'an and he confounds me. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said:, That is (the doing of the Satan) who is known as Khinzab, and when you perceive its effect, seek refuge with Allah from it and spit three times to your left. I did that and Allah dispelled that from me.(Sahih Muslim Book 026, Hadith Number 5463)
passing infront of the someone praying:'Abdullah b. 'Umar reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: When any one of you prays, he should not allow anyone to pass before him, and if he refuses, he should be then forcibly resisted, for there is a devil with him. (Sahih Muslim Book 004, Hadith Number 1025.)
passing infront of the someone praying:Busr b Sa'id reported that Zaid b Khalid al-Juhani sent him to Abu Juhaim in order to ask him what he had heard from the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) with regard to the passer in front of the worshipper. Abu Juhaim reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: If anyone who passes in front of a man who is praying knew the responsibility he incurs, he would stand still forty (?) rather than to pass in front of him Abu Nadr said: I do not know whether he said forty days or months or years (Sahih Muslim Book 4. Prayer. Hadith 1027. ).


Stopping from doing something very important after the prayers and before going to sleep:Narated By Abdullah ibn Amr :The Prophet (pbuh) said: There are two qualities or characteristics which will not be returned by any Muslim without his entering Paradise. While they are easy, those who act upon them are few. One should say: "Glory be to Allah" ten times after every prayer, "Praise be to Allah" ten times and "Allah is Most Great" ten times. That is a hundred and fifty on the tongue, but one thousand and five hundred on the scale. When he goes to bed, he should say: "Allah is Most Great" thirty-four times, "Praise be to Allah" thirty-three times, and Glory be to Allah thirty-three times, for that is a hundred on the tongue and a thousand on the scale. (He said I saw the Apostle of Allah (pbuh) counting them on his hand. The people asked: Apostle of Allah! How is it that while they are easy, those who act upon them are few?He replied: The Devil comes to one of you when he goes to bed and he makes him sleep, before he utters them, and he comes to him while he is engaged in prayer and calls a need to his mind before he utters them.(Abu Dawud Book 036, Hadith Number 5047)


Not offering congregation prayers:Narated By AbudDarda' : I heard the Apostle of Allah (pbuh) say: If there are three men in a village or in the desert among whom prayer is not offered (in congregation), the devil has got the mastery over them. So observe (prayer) in congregation), for the wolf eats only the straggling animal. .(Abu Dawud Book 002, extract from Hadith Number 0547)
Leaving openings in the rows in congregation prayer:Narated By Abdullah ibn Umar : The Prophet (pbuh) said: Set the rows in order, stand shoulder to shoulder, close the gaps, be pliant in the hands of your brethren, and do not leave openings for the devil. (Abu Dawud Book 002,extract from Hadith Number 0666)

Raising head before teh imam raises head in congregation prayers:The one who raises his head and lowers it before the imam - his forelock is in the hand of a shaytan.'" (Maliks Muwatta Book 3. Prayer.extract from Hadith 061.)

A plot against women:Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'z Zubayr al-Makki that Abu Maiz al-Aslami Abdullah ibn Sufyan told him that once, when he was sitting with Abdullah ibn Umar, a woman came to ask him for an opinion. She said, "I set out intending to do tawaf of the House, but then, when I got to the gate of the Mosque, I started bleeding, so I went back until it had left me. Then I set out again, and then, when I got to the gate of the mosque, I started bleeding, so I went back until it had left me. Then I set off again, and then, when I got to the gate of the mosque, I started bleeding." Abdullah ibn Umar said, "That is only an impulse from shaytan. Do ghusl, then bind your private parts with a cloth and do tawaf." (Maliks Muwatta, Book 20. Hajj ,Hadith 125)

14)Bewailing over the dead:Umm Salama reported: When Abu Salama died I said: I am a stranger in a strange land; I shall weep for him in a manner that would be talked of. I made preparation for weeping for him when a woman from the upper side of the city came there who intended to help me (in weeping). She happened to come across the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) and he said: Do you intend to bring the devil into a house from which Allah has twice driven him out? I (Umm Salama), therefore, refrained from weeping and I did not weep.(Sahih Muslim Book 004, Hadith Number 2007.)


15)Foretelling ,Soothsaying:Narated By Abu Huraira : Allah's Prophet said, "When Allah decrees some order in the heaven, the angels flutter their wings indicating complete surrender to His saying which sounds like chains being dragged on rock. And when the state of fear disappears, they ask each other, "What has your Lord ordered? They say that He has said that which is true and just, and He is the Most High, the Most Great." (34.23). Then the stealthy listeners (devils) hear this order, and these stealthy listeners are like this, one over the other." (Sufyan, a sub-narrator demonstrated that by holding his hand upright and separating the fingers.) A stealthy listener hears a word which he will convey to that which is below him and the second will convey it to that which is below him till the last of them will convey it to the wizard or foreteller. Sometimes a flame (fire) may strike the devil before he can convey it, and sometimes he may convey it before the flame (fire) strikes him, whereupon the wizard adds to that word a hundred lies. The people will then say, 'Didn't he (i.e. magician) tell such-and-such a thing on such-and-such date?' So that magician is said to have told the truth because of the Statement which has been heard from the heavens." (Sahih Bukhari Vol 006, Book 060, Hadith Number 324.)


16)Market place , Bazar:Salman reported: In case it lies in your power don't be one to enter the bazar first and the last to get out of that because there is a bustle and the standard of Satan is set there.(Sahih Muslim Book 031, extract from Hadith Number 6006.)

17)Satan and Food:
Satan considers that food lawful on which Allah's name is not mentioned. (Sahih Muslim Book 023,extract from Hadith Number 5004.)

The Satan is present with any one of you in everything he does; he is present even when he eats food; so if any one of you drops a mouthful he should remove away anything filthy on it and eat it and not leave for the devil; and when he finishes (food) he should lick his fingers, for he does not know in what portion of his food the blessing lies.(Sahih Muslim Book 023, Hadith Number 5046.)

None of you should eat with his left hand and drink with that (left hand), for the satan eats with left hand and drinks with that (hand). . (Sahih Muslim Book 23. Drinks. extract from Hadith 5010.)

18)Alcohol:Satan seeketh only to cast among you enmity and hatred by means of strong drink and games of chance, and to turn you from remembrance of Allah and from (His) worship. Will ye then have done? 5:91

19)Magic ,Charms , Astrology:
divining arrows are only an infamy of satan's handiwork. Leave it aside in order that ye may succeed.(extract from 5:90

Solomon disbelieved not; but the devils disbelieved, teaching mankind magic (extract of 2:102 )

Narated By Abdullah ibn Mas'ud : Zaynab, the wife of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, told that Abdullah said: I heard the Apostle of Allah (pbuh) saying: spells, charms and love-potions are polytheism.I asked: Why do you say this? I swear by Allah, when my eye was discharging I used to go to so-and-so, the Jew, who applied a spell to me. When he applied the spell to me, it calmed down. Abdullah said:That was just the work of the Devil who was picking it with his hand, and when he uttered the spell on it, he desisted. All you need to do is to say as the Apostle of Allah (pbuh) used to say: Remove the harm, O Lord of men, and heal. Thou art the Healer. There is no remedy but Thine which leaves no disease behind.(Abu Dawud Book 022, Hadith Number 3874)


20)Conspiracy:O ye who believe! when ye conspire together, conspire not together for crime and wrongdoing and disobedience toward the messenger, but conspire together for righteousness and pity, and keep your duty, toward Allah, unto whom ye will be gathered. 58:9 Lo! Conspiracy is only of the devil, that he may vex those who believe; but he can harm them not at all unless by Allah's leave. In Allah let believers put their trust.58:10

21)Satan does not concern himself with three persons:Malik related to me from Abd ar-Rahman ibn Harmala that Said ibn al-Musayyab heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, "Shaytan concerns himself with one and two. When there are three, he does not concern himself with them."(malik muwatta Book 054, Hadith Number 036.)

22)Scattering in valleys:Narated By AbuTha'labah al-Khushani : When the people encamped, (the narrator Amr ibn Uthman al-Himsi) said: When the Apostle of Allah (pbuh) encamped, the people scattered in the glens and wadis. The Apostle of Allah (pbuh) said: Your scattering in these glens and wadis is only of the devil. They afterwards kept close together when they encamped to such an extent that it used to be said that if a cloth were spread over them, it would cover them all.(Abu Dawud Book 008, Hadith Number 2622)

23)Satan commands filthiness, wrong stuff:
O ye who believe! Follow not the footsteps of the devil. Unto whomsoever followeth the footsteps of the devil, lo! he commandeth filthiness and wrong. (extracted from 24:21)

The devil promiseth you destitution and enjoineth on you lewdness(extracted from2:268)


HOW TO STAY SAFE
1)Narated By Abu Huraira : Allah's Apostle said," Whoever says: "La ilaha illal-lah wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahu-l-mulk wa lahu-l-hamd wa huwa 'ala kulli shai'in qadir," ("None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Alone Who has no partners, to Him belongs Dominion and to Him belong all the Praises, and He has power over all things (i.e. Omnipotent)",) one hundred times will get the same reward as given for manumitting ten slaves; and one hundred good deeds will be written in his accounts, and one hundred sins will be deducted from his accounts, and it (his saying) will be a shield for him from Satan on that day till night, and nobody will be able to do a better deed except the one who does more than he." (Sahih Bukhari Vol 008, Book 075, Hadith Number 412)

When you go to bed, read 'Aayaht 'al-kursee (verse 2:244) completely, for there is still upon you from Allah a guardian, and no shaytan can get close to you until you enter upon morning. (Reported by Al-Bukhãri)

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Do not make your houses as graveyards. Satan runs away from the house in which Surah Baqara is recited.(Sahih Muslim Book 004, Hadith Number 1707)

When a person enters his house and mentions the name of Allah at the time of entering it and while eating the food, Satan says (addressing himself: You have no place to spend the night and no evening meal; but when he enters without mentioning the name of Allah, the Satan says: You have found a place to spend the night, and when he does not mention the name of Allah while eating food, he (the Satan) says: You have found a place to spend the night and evening meal. (Sahih Muslim Book 023, extract from Hadith Number 5006)

The Messenger of Allah said: Whoever says - upon going out of his home: Bismillãh, tawakkaltu `alã 'allãh, lã hawla wa lã quwwata 'illã bil-lãhi ta`ãla, it is said to him: You have been sufficed, protected, and guided, and the shaytan would move aside from him, then say to another shaytan: What access do you have to a man that has been guided, sufficed, and protected?".(Reporte d by Abu Dawood, An-Nisã'ee , and At-Tirmithi )


Narated By Ibn 'Abbas : The Prophet said, "If anyone of you on having xxxxxx relations with his wife said (and he must say it before starting) 'In the name of Allah. O Allah! Protect us from Satan and also protect what you bestow upon us (i.e. the coming offspring) from Satan, and if it is destined that they should have a child then, Satan will never be able to harm that offspring." (Sahih Bukhari Volumn 001, Book 004, Hadith Number 143)

2)Going to the bathroom:Narated By Zayd ibn Arqam : The Apostle of Allah (pbuh) said: These privies are frequented by the jinns and devils. So when anyone amongst you goes there, he should say: "I seek refuge in Allah from male and female devils."(Abu Dawud Book 001, Hadith Number 0006)

3)Seek refuge when you hear dogs barking ,donkeys braying:
Narated By Abu Huraira : The Prophet said, "When you hear the crowing of cocks, ask for Allah's Blessings for (their crowing indicates that) they have seen an angel. And when you hear the braying of donkeys, seek Refuge with Allah from Satan for (their braying indicates) that they have seen a Satan."(Sahih Bukhari Vol 004, Book 054, Hadith Number 522)

4)What to do when an evil prompting(slander) from the satan reaches you:
And if a slander from the devil wound thee, then seek refuge in Allah. Lo! He is Hearer, Knower.7:200

And say:" My Lord! I seek refuge in Thee from suggestions of the evil ones,23:97 And I seek refuge in Thee, my Lord, lest they be present with me," 23:98 (waqul :" rabbi aAAoothu bika min hamazati alshshayateeni ( 23:97) WaaAAoothu bika rabbi an yahdurooni "23:98 )
a)reaction of righteous people: Lo! those who ward off (evil), when a glamour from the devil troubleth them, they do but remember (Allah's guidance) and behold them seers! 7:201
ie they start doing 'zikr' (remeberance of Allah) till the temptation goes away.

b)reaction of unrighteous people: Their brethren plunge them further into error and cease not. 7:202
ie they simply follow devils prompting head-on Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 26:221 They descend on every sinful, false one. 26:222

5)Dreams : Abu Qatada reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The good vision are from Allah and the evil dreams are from the satan. If one sees a dream which one does not like, one should spit on one's left side and seek the refuge of Allah from the satan; it will not do one any harm, and one should not disclose it to anyone and if one sees a good vision one should feel pleased but should not disclose it to anyone but whom one loves.(Sahih Muslim Book 029, Hadith Number 5618) similarly yusufs (peace be upon him) father told him not to share his prophecy dream to his brothers as they were jealous of him already. He said: O my dear son! Tell not thy brethren of thy vision. lest they plot a plot against thee. Lo! satan is for man an open foe. 12:5


6)Beware when night falls: Narated By Jabir bin 'Abdullah : Allah's Apostle said, "When night falls (or when it is evening), stop your children from going out, for the devils spread out at that time. But when an hour of the night has passed, release them and close the doors and mention Allah's Name, for Satan does not open a closed door. Tie the mouth of your water-skin and mention Allah's Name; cover your containers and utensils and mention Allah's Name. Cover them even by placing something across it, and extinguish your lamps." (Sahih Bukhari Vol 007, Book 069, Hadith Number 527)


7)Watch out while cursing the devil:Narated By A man : AbulMalih reported on the authority of a man: I was riding on a mount behind the Prophet (pbuh). It stumbled. Thereupon I said: May the devil parish! He said: Do not say: May the devil perish! for if you say that, he will swell so much so that he will be like a house, and say: By my power. But say: In the name of Allah; for when you say that, he will diminish so much so that he will be like a fly.(Abu Dawud Book 036, Hadith Number 4946)

8)Make sure that you snuff your nose well when you wake up:Narated By Abu Huraira : The Prophet said, "If anyone of you rouses from sleep and performs the ablution, he should wash his nose by putting water in it and then blowing it out thrice, because Satan has stayed in the upper part of his nose all the night." (Sahih Bukhari Vol 004, Book 054, Hadith Number 516)


9)Restrain from Yawning : Narated By Abu Huraira : The Prophet said, "Allah likes sneezing and dislikes yawning, so if someone sneezes and then praises Allah, then it is obligatory on every Muslim who heard him, to say: May Allah be merciful to you (Yar-hmuka-l-lah). But as regards yawning, it is from Satan, so one must try one's best to stop it, if one says 'Ha' when yawning, Satan will laugh at him." (Sahih Bukhari Vol 008, Book 073, Hadith Number 242)

The son of Abu Said al-Khudri reported on the authority of his father that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said. When one of you yawns while engaged in prayer, he should try to restrain so far as it lies in his power, since it is the Satan that enter therein.(Sahih Muslim Book 042, Hadith Number 7132)


11)Satans reaction to the call to prayer:Suhail reported that his father sent him to Banu Haritha along with a boy or a man. Someone called him by his name from an enclosure. He (the narrator) said: The person with me looked towards the enclosure, but saw nothing. I made a mention of that to my father. He said: If I knew that you would meet such a situation I would have never sent you (there), but (bear in mind) whenever you hear such a call (from the evil spirits) pronounce the Adhan. for I have heard Abu Huraira say that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Whenever Adhan is proclaimed, satan runs back vehemently. (Sahih Muslim Book 4. Prayer. Hadith 0755)


12)Do not observe prayer at....: Ibn 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Do not intend to observe prayer at the time of the rising of the sun nor at its setting, for it rises between the horns of satan. (Sahih Muslim Book 4. Prayer. Hadith 1807)



13)Do not say "if i ...." :
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: A strong believer is better and is more lovable to Allah than a weak believer, and there is good in everyone, (but) cherish that which gives you benefit (in the Hereafter) and seek help from Allah and do not lose heart, and if anything (in the form of trouble) comes to you, don't say: If I had not done that, it would not have happened so and so, but say: Allah did that what He had ordained to do and your "if" opens the (gate) for the Satan. (Sahih Muslim Book 033, Hadith Number 6441)

SOME OF his ACHEIVEMENTS
1)Satan enticed to Initiate Idol worshipping: Narated By Ibn Abbas : All the idols which were worshipped by the people of Noah were worshipped by the Arabs later on. As for the idol Wadd, it was worshipped by the tribe of Kalb at Daumat-al-Jandal; Suwa' was the idol of (the tribe of) Murad and then by Ban, Ghutaif at Al-Jurf near Saba; Yauq was the idol of Hamdan, and Nasr was the idol of Himyr, the branch of Dhi-al-Kala.' The names (of the idols) formerly belonged to some pious men of the people of Noah, and when they died Satan inspired their people to (prepare and place idols at the places where they used to sit, and to call those idols by their names. The people did so, but the idols were not worshipped till those people (who initiated them) had died and the origin of the idols had become obscure, whereupon people began worshipping them.(Sahih Bukhari Vol 006, Book 060, Hadith Number 442)

2)Sleeping through the prayers: Narated By 'Abdullah : A person was mentioned before the Prophet (p.b.u.h) and he was told that he had kept on sleeping till morning and had not got up for the prayer. The Prophet said, "Satan urinated in his ears."(Sahih Bukhari Vol 002, Book 021, Hadith Number 245)

3)Satan beguiled people after they got revealations:Narated By Abdullah ibn Abbas : Abdullah ibn AbuSarh used to write (the revelation) for the Apostle of Allah (pbuh). Satan made him slip, and he joined the infidels. ................(Abu Dawud Book 033, extract from Hadith Number 4345)

Recite unto them the tale of him to whom We gave Our revelations, but he sloughed them off, so Satan overtook him and he became of those who lead astray.7:175 And had We willed We could have raised him by their (revealations) means, but he clung to the earth and followed his own lust. (extract from 7:176 )

4)Satan made wrong deeds seem fair:
one can find countless verses in holy quran on this .all the nations which were punished etc etc.so i am not quoting here.as its already getting pretty long.


5)Satan incited the fight and as a result prophet peace be upon him forgot the exact date of lailat-ul-qadar::Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) came to the people and said: O people, Lailat-ul-Qadr was made manifest to me and I came out to inform you about it that two persons came contending with each other and there was a devil along with them and I forgot it. So seek it in the last ten nights of Ramadan..... . (Sahih Muslim Book 006, extract from Hadith Number 2630)


6)On the day of battle of ohoud:Lo! those of you who turned back on the day when the two hosts met, Satan alone it was who caused them to backslide, because of some of that which they have earned. Now Allah hath forgiven them. Lo! Allah is Forgiving. Clement. 3:155 Satan Created panic, misunderstanding aftrewards which has been described in a hadith 510 of book 54 of vol 8 of sahih bukhari quoted above under example of unintentional murder section.


7)Satan lulled Bilal (razi Allahu anhu) to sleep while he stood up for prayers:
Yahya related to me from Malik that Zayd ibn Aslam said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, stopped for a rest one night on the way to Makka and appointed Bilal to wake them up for the prayer. Bilal slept and everyone else slept and none of them woke up until the sun had risen......... .................... ................The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, turned to Abu Bakr and said, 'Shaytan came to Bilal when he was standing in prayer and made him lie down and lulled him to sleep like a small boy.' (malik muwatta Book 001, extract from Hadith Number 026)



SATANS FEARS AND DISAPPOINTMENTS:
1)Satan feared Umar (razi Allahu anhu): Narated By Sad bin Abi Waqqas : Once Umar asked the leave to see Allah's Apostle in whose company there were some Quraishi women who were talking to him and asking him for more financial support raising their voices. When 'Umar asked permission to enter the women got up (quickly) hurrying to screen themselves. When Allah's Apostle admitted 'Umar, Allah's Apostle was smiling, 'Umar asked, "O Allah's Apostle! May Allah keep you gay always." Allah's Apostle said, "I am astonished at these women who were with me. As soon as they heard your voice, they hastened to screen themselves." 'Umar said, "O Allah's Apostle! You have more right to be feared by them." Then he addressed (those women) saying, "O enemies of your own souls! Do you fear me and not Allah's Apostle ?" They replied. "Yes, for you are a fearful and fierce man as compared with Allah's Apostle." On that Allah's Apostle said (to 'Umar), "By Him in Whose Hands my life is, whenever Satan sees you taking a path, he follows a path other than yours." (Sahih Bukhari Vol 004, Book 054, Hadith Number 515)


2)Satans are chained during Ramadan: Narated By Abu Huraira : Allah's Apostle said, "When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained."(Sahih Bukhari Vol 003, Book 031, Hadith Number 123)

3)Satan interrupting prophet Mohammads (peace be upon him) prayers:
Abu Addardã said: the Messenger of Allah stood up in prayer, then, we heard him say: 'A`outhu bil-lãhi minka (I seek refuge in Allah from you).
He then said: 'Al`anuka bila`natil-lãhi (I curse you with the curse of Allah) three times.
He then extended his hand as if he was reaching for something. When the prayer was over, we said to him: O' Messenger of Allah! We heard you saying something in the prayer which we have not heard you say before. Then we saw you extend your hand. He said: The enemy of Allah Iblees came with a bright blaze of fire to put in my face. So I said 'A`outhu bil-lãhi minka - three times.
Then I said: I curse you with the perfect curse of Allah ('Al`anuka bila`natil-lãhi 'attãmmeti - three times.
He did not move back, I then wanted to take him, and by Allah were it not for the supplication of our brother Sulaymãn [Prophet Solomon] he would have become all tied up, and game for the children of Madeenah.(Reported by Muslim, and is #109 in The Authentic of Good Sayings.)


4)Satans reaction when one goes in prostration after reading a verse of prostration: It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that when, the son of Adam recites the Ayat of Sajdah (prostration) and then falls down in prostration, the Satan goes into seclusion and weeps and says: Alas, and in the narration of Abu Kuraib the words are: Woe unto me, the son of Adam was commanded to prostrate, and he prostrated and Paradise was entitled to him and I was commanded to prostrate, but I refused and am doomed to HELL. (Sahih Muslim Book 1. Faith. Hadith 0144)

5)Raising finger during prayers in tashahud:
Ibn 'Abbas was asked about a man who pointed with his finger while supplicating, and he said, "This is sincere devotion." Says Anas ibn Malik, "That is imploring." Mujahid maintains "Doing this hinders Satan." (copied from book 'fiqh as sunna')
A similar hadith reported by ahmed says that the pointing of the finger is very hard on teh satan.


6)Abolishment of what satan proposes:
Never sent We a messenger or a Prophet before thee but when He recited (the message) SATAN proposed (opposition) in respect of that which he recited thereof. But Allah abolisheth that which SATAN proposeth. Then Allah establisheth His revelations. Allah is Knower, Wise; 22:52


7)On the day of battle of badar:

The polytheists of makkah when started off from makkah for the battle of badar,they feared their rival tribe bani bakr bin kunana that they might harm them from behind.hence satan assumed the form of the leader of the rival tribe namely saraqa bin malik and came to the polytheists .satan not only promised them huge success and invasion but also assured them of his assistance.(describe d in verse 8:48) but upon reaching ,when he saw gabriel arranging armies of angels (ofcourse the humans couldnt see this) in the battlefield and realized Allahs help in the form of angles participating in the war ,he fled away with terror leaving the polytheists to their fate . (agreed upon)

And when Satan made their deeds seem fair to them and said: No one of mankind can conquer you this day, for I am your protector. But when the armies came in sight of one another, he took Sight, saying: Lo! I am guiltless of you. Lo! I see that which ye see not. Lo! I fear Allah.And Allah is severe in punishment. 8:48

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibrahim ibn Abi Abla from Talha ibn Ubaydullah ibn Kariyz that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Shaytan is not considered more abased or more cast out or more contemptible or more angry on any day than on the Day of Arafa. That is only because he sees the descent of the Mercy and Allah's disregard for great wrong actions. That is except from what he was shown on the Day of Badr." Someone said, "What was he shown on the Day of Badr, Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Didn't he see Jibril arranging the ranks of the angels?"(malik muwatta Book 020, Hadith Number 254)



How satan will deny on the day of judgement:
And Satan saith, when the matter hath been decided: Lo! Allah promised you a promise of truth; and I promised you, then failed you. And I had no power over you save that I called unto you and ye obeyed me. So blame me not, but blame yourselves. I cannot help you, nor can ye help me. Lo! I disbelieved in that which ye before ascribed to me. Lo! for wrong doers is a painful doom. 14:22

But avaunt ye, O ye guilty, this day! 36:59 Did I not charge you, O ye sons of Adam, that ye worship not the devil Lo! he is your open foe! 36:60 But that ye worship Me? That was the right path. 36:61 Yet he hath led astray of you a great multitude. Had ye then no sense? 36:62 This is hell which ye were promised (if ye followed him). 36:63 Burn therein this day for that ye disbelieved. 36:64 When they are flung therein(hell) they hear its roaring as it boileth up, 67:7

Do you think that it is red like this fire of yours? It is blacker than tar.(malik muwatta Book 057,extract from Hadith 002)

Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) said that the HELL would continue to say: Is there anything more, until Allah, the Exalted and High, would place His foot therein and that would say: Enough, enough, by Your Honour, and some parts of it would draw close to the other. (Sahih Muslim Book 40. Paradise, Its Description, Its Bounties A.... Hadith 6823 reported by Anas b. Malik )



THE RECKONING IS VERY NEAR:
Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. 21:1 Never cometh there unto them a new reminder from their Lord but they listen to it while they play. 21:2

And Satan indeed found his calculation true concerning them, for they follow him, all save a group of true believers.34:20

The likeness of those who are entrusted with the Law of Moses, yet apply it not, is as the likeness of the ass carrying books. (extract from 62:5)
a soul searching question:do we also fit in the same category??

On the day when the wrongdoer gnaweth his hands ,he will say: Ah , would that i had chosen a way together with the messenger (of Allah) ! 25:27 Alas forme !Ah, would that i had never taken such a one for friend! 25:28 He verily led me astray from the Reminder after it had reached me.satan was ever man's deserter in the hour of need.25:29

Final exhortation:
Allah says : Lo! the devil is an enemy for you, so treat him as an enemy.(extract of 35:6) Say: The evil, and the good are not alike even though the plenty of the evil attract thee. So be mindful of your duty to Allah, O men of understanding, that ye may succeed.5:100

We all know that Satan doesnt leave a single stone unturned to land us in hell .so let us protect ourselves by keeping alive our hearts with remeberance of Allah coz Allah says :And he whose sight is dim to the remembrance of the Beneficent, We assign unto him a devil who becometh his comrade; 43:36
that is why we repeatedly plead for help in every rakah of 5 times prayers (form of remeberance see 20:14) " Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds,1:2 The Beneficent,the Merciful.1:3 Owner of the Day of Judgment,1:4 Thee (alone) we worship; Thee alone we ask for help. 1:5 Show us the straight path,1:6 The path of those whom Thou hast favored; Not (the path) of those who earn Thine anger nor of those who astray.1:7 "

We already know that our worst foe's final dwelling is hell , but come lets turn every second of his worldly life hell too .(how? by turning to Allah)
Turn unto Him repentant, and surrender unto Him, before there come unto you the doom, when ye cannot be helped.39:54 And follow the better (guidance) of that which is revealed unto you from your Lord, before the doom cometh on you suddenly when ye know not, 39:55 Lest any soul should say Alas, my grief that I was unmindful of Allah, and I was indeed among the scoffers! 39:56 Or should say: if Allah had but guided me I should have been among the dutiful!39:57 Or should say, when it seeth the doom: Oh, that I had but a second chance that I might be among the righteous!39:58
