Ankaboot - Urdu Poetry Forum - Photo Gallery ![]() AssalamoAlaikum, I’ve been asked to tell you guys something about default filters of PhotoShop. First of all, it is always very nice to use extra set of filters like Alien Skin or Auto FX or Filters Unlimited or Power Touch, where everything is prepared for you. You just select the look you want to give to your image or Text and you are done. But in reality, those people call themselves designers and artists who master built-in Photoshop filters. Filters that are found in Photoshop are more fun than any other plug-ins u buy to use for yr designing purposes. Here I’ll try to keep things very simple and to the point. Mainly because I myself do not possess enough knowledge of Photoshop techniques, but will try to get u guys some info on this. These filters are mainly used to create images, make yr images better, give them new looks. They are not used for text enhancements, so homework assignment will only ask to prepare images without any text. Just wanna see what was yr original image, what filter u used on it, and what was the end result u got to make the image look nicer. Original Images: ![]() ![]() chemas-microsoft-com ffice ffice" /> When u open yr PS, yr menu bar contains a button for FILTERS. The first name on this list is of the filter u used last time. Third section contains a list of filters that yr PS has in it. You can also click on FILTER GALLERY and it will open all the filters in a separate window in yr Photoshop. Like other filter software u have learned, this one also has a PREVIEW window, where u can see effect of filter u chose and different strengths that u apply One good thing about these filters is that the name pretty much tells u what it can be used for. After I click FILTER GALLERY this is the window that opens up. Here u can see PREVIEW on the left hand side, on RIGHT side u have different OPTIONS and STRENGTHS that u can use for that specific filter and in the MIDDLE u have list of filters that u can use and preview. In this example I used FILM GRAIN, from the preview I saw what new look it gave to my image, and then USED different STRENGTH to make these changes SUITABLE for my image. This is how my image looked like I used the filter I selected and previewed Now let us discuss these filters one by one. Artistic: The first sets of filters we encounter are named ARTISTIC. The little arrow pointing towards right indicates that there are many filters in this one title that can be used. The image below shows these filters I’ll provide examples of some of them and will leave the rest for u to explore and have fun with. U already have seen one example of these filters in Image 3 where I used FILM Grain. Here in the picture below I used COLORED PENCIL. And the result it gave is for u to look at Next example I’m providing is of NOEN GLOW. It almost turns yr image inside out. It gives very kool effect to yr image; I personally like to use this effect on images of trees and jungles, also gives nice look to images with snow and water. Here u can see the effect on my image it gives (u can always play around with Strength to get the best look). The last example of this set of filters is SMUDGE STICK. Image below shows the effect it can give to yr image. Blur: The next set is named BLUR. As the name indicates it gives blurry affects to yr image. Again it has many different filters in this set for different blurry effects. All u have to do it use all of them once and then u’ll know which one will be good for yr usage. Here are 2 examples of this filter: 1- Gaussian Blur 2- Surface Blur: Brush Strokes: Is the next set of filters. Again it has 5-6 different looks at yr dispense. Preview them while u r applying them, always helpful to give yr image that artistic touch. Example provided here is of SPRAYED STROKE. Accented Brush: Distort: Next set we are looking at is DISTORT. First example is of Pinch: Scond example is of Wave: Noise: Now we go to NOISE. Used to make images look ugly, meaning that images get a rough look, not smooth anymore. Different options here that can be used. Add Noise: Dust and Scratches: I have added more pictures than words, because pictures explain better than narrating it. look at them , and see what difference it made to original images, there is one filter, i am leaving for u try and u'll like it , it is called SKETCH, try that one for sure. aNkaboot.
