dar thaa khulaa, pe baiThe rahe par sameT kar
karte bhii kyaa ke jaa-e-amaaN hii qafas meN thii !

sakte meN sab chiraaGh the, taare the dam-baKhud !
maiN us ke iKhtiyaar meN vo mere bas meN thii

ab ke bhii jamii hu’ii hai ye aaNkhoN ke saamne
KhvaaboN kii aik dhuNdh jo picchle baras meN thii

kal shab to us kii bazm meN aise lagaa mujhe !
jaise ke kaaynaat merii das-taras meN thii

mehfil meN aasmaaN kii, bole ke chup rahe
“Amjad” sadaa zamiin isii pesh-o-pas meN thii
