terii zad se nikalanaa chaahataa hai
ye dariyaa ruKh badalanaa chaahataa hai

vo sapanaa jis kii suurat hii nahiin hai
merii aankhoon mein chalanaa chaahataa hai

diloon kii maandagii pe kyaa taajjub
ki suuraj bhii to Dhalanaa chaahataa hai

nashist-e-dard badalii hai to ab dil
zaraa pahaluu badalanaa chaahataa hai

mujhe bhii saamanaa hai karbalaa kaa
meraa sar bhii uchhalanaa chaahataa hai

nahiin hai tarjumaan-e-Gam ye aansuu
ye paanii ab ubalanaa chaahataa ha

tabassum zer-e-lab kahataa hai 'Amjad'
koii jazbaa machalanaa chaahataa hai
