bheegti raat me jab gham ki fizaaon ka sukoot
dil me ik hashar uthaaye to gazal hote hai

ishq ki aatish-e-khaamosh jab chupay chupkay
aag seenay me lagaaye to gazal hote hai

kabi mehfil me kabi goshaa-e-tanhai me
koi reh reh k rulaaye to gazal hote hai



gham-e-jaana hi se mukoof nahen sher-o-gaal
gam-e-duraan b sunaaye to gazal hote hai
