akhir tumhain sadma kya pohancha, kya soch k khud azaar howe

kyu saaf kushadaa rastoo.n per tum tokarain khaatey phirtey ho
kyu teera-o taar si galiyoo.n main tum aan k khush-raftaar howe

kyu rasta chor k chaltey ho, kyu logoo.n sey katratey ho
kyu chaltey phirtey apne leye, tum aap hi ik dewaar howe

kya uth'tey beth'tey sochtey ho, kya likhtey parhtey rehtey ho
is umr main ye be-kaifi kyu, kis wastey naik atwaar howe

kyu aise safr pe nikley ho manzil nahi jis ki koi bhi
kyu raah pe aisi chaltey ho, saay bhi jahan dewaar howe

kyu tark-e alaiq ko tum nay samjha hay ilaaj-e ghum akhir
dekho tu wali sofi bhi yahan kis thaath k duniya-daar howe

mayoosi-e paihum sey tum nay yarana ye kaisa ghantha hay
undoh alam they jitne bhi, akhir wo gale ka haar howe

is kalba-e ehzaa.n sey hargiz, ubhrey ga na soraj koi bhi
kab khaak sitara baar hoi, kab saay sahr asaar howe

kub subha k nale kaam aay, kya garyaa-e neem shabi sey mila
is qarya-e khwaab-e faroshaa.n main tum kis k leye bedaar howe

bekaar ulajhtey rehtey ho kyu ulti seedhi baatoo.n main
ye marhaley vasl-o hijraa.n k ab aise bhi kyu dushwaar howe

us kochey ki raah tu samjhaao, jis kochey main jana mushkil hay
us shakhs ka naam tu batlaao, tum jis k leye bemaar howe

Mashfaq nay ye baatain sun k kaha, baatain na hoee.n ashaar howe
ye dard batane wale bhi kis shaan k khush guftaar howe

sad shukar k khush usloobi sey takmeel ko pohanchi ruswaai
muhtaaj-e dua they jo khud hi akhir wo merey ghum khwaar howe
