ankh ban jati hia sawan ki ghata sham ke baad
loat jata hia ager koi khafa sham ke baad

woh jo tal jati rahi sir se bala sham ke baad
koi to tha jo deta tha dua sham ke baad

ahhey bherti hia shab-e-hijir yatimoo ki terhan
sard hojati hia her roz hawa sham ke baad .

sham se pehley lakh sulaey rakhiey
jag uthti hia mohobat ki ana sham ke baad ,

sham tak qaid raha kertey hia dil ke under
dard ho jatey hia sarey hi riha sham ke baad,

khuab toot ker lipat jatey hia band ankho se
janey kis jurum ki hia kis ko saza sham ke baad,

chand jaab roo ke sitaroo se galey milta hia
aek ajib rang ki hoti hia fiza sham ke baad,

main ager khush bhi rahoon phir bhi mere siney main
soogawari to roti hia sada sham ke baad ,

tum gaey to siyah rang ke kaprey pehney
phir ti rehti hia mere gher main qaza sham ke baad ,

main ne tanhai se poucha miloo gi kaab tak
us ne foran hi baicheni se kaha sham ke baad

loat ati hia meri shab ki ibadat khali
janey kis arsh per rehta hia khuda sham ke baad ,

ajib muthi main jakrey rakhta hia din mujhey
mujhey iss baat ka ahsas howa sham ke baad,

koi bhoola howa ghum hia jo musalsal mujh ko
dil ke patal se deta hia sada sham ke baad,

mar deta hia ujer janey ka dohra ahsas
kash koi ho na kisi se juda sham ke baad ,,……………..
