ander se koi ghunghruu chankey koi geet sunain to likkhein bhi
hum dehaan ki aag main taptey hain kuch our tapain to likkhein bhi

ye log bichaare kia jaanein kiun hum ne herf ka jog liya
is raah chalein to samjhen bhi is aag jalein to likhein bhi

din raat hue hum waqf e rufoo' ab kia mehfil kia fikr e sukhan
ye haat ruken to sochain bhi ye zakhm silain to likhein bhi

in deewaron se kia kehna' ye patther kis ki sunte hain
wo shehar milain to royein bhi' wo log milein to likhein bhi

khaali hai mann kashkol apna kaaghaz pe ulatt k sermaaya
jo kasht kamaye likh daaley' dukh our sahein to likhein bhi

ye mailaanon k soudager' ye rujhanaan k shubda'ger
jeibon main sajate hain chot'tain kuch dil pe sahein to likhein bhi
