Aaj kay daur mein ay dost yeh manzar kyon hai,
Zakhm har sar pay har ik haath mein pathar kyon hai !

[Oh ! friend, why is this scene out there in these current times,
Why is it that every head has an injury and there is a stone in every hand !]

Jab haqeeqat hai ki har zaray mein tu rehta hai,
Phir zameen par kahin masjid kahin mandir kyon hai !

[When this is a fact that you (GOD) exist everywhere,
Then why do we have Temples and Mosques all around the place !]

Apna anjaam to maaloom hai sab ko phir bhi,
Apni nazron mein har insaan sikandar kyon hai !

[Everybody knows his/her end,
Then why does everyone think as if he/she is Alexander The Great !]

Zindagi jeenay kay kaabil hi nahin ab `Faakir'
Varna har aankh mein ashko ka samandar kyon hai !
[Life is not worth living anymore 'Faakir',
Otherwise why would every eye be filled with tears !]
