Friends , salam I have found Ghalib to be a diffrent poet on many counts. Ghalib is a great poet is almost unanimous. Yet a few were against Ghalib. To me his brevity was the beauty of his narration clubbed with the perfect examples he gave in the second "misra". For example: Mehrbaan ho ke bula lo mujhe chao jis dam, Main gaya waqt nahin hoo ke phir aa bhi na sakoon. The second misra is very apt for a thing [time] which can never be callled back. I request a few more such shers from you people . Thanks.                  |

hazroon khawhishein aisi keh her kawhish peh dam nikle bohut nikle mare armaan lakin phir bhi kem nikle his every other verse fits so well on a situation of almost everyone! What I like most is the reflection of his life through his poetry, what he says is what he does, unlike Iqbal. Otherwise with poetry and poets I lose interest very quick when I find them hollow words. |
