Introduction This tutorial explains how to convert Microsoft Word documents and HTML documents to Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF), using freely available tools on Windows platforms. Step by Step Guideline To create PDF files you need to install few applications in the following order: 1 PDF Files Viewer 2 Postscript Printer Driver 3 GhostScript 4 GhostScript View Install PDF Files Viewer Install the Adobe Acrobat reader (if not already installed). Follow the Adobe Acrobat reader installation instructions to do so. But I personally prefer another software which is known as Foxitreader which is much more reliable n consumes 80 % less resources as compare to Adobe Acrobat reader. I have already uploaded and posted this software in Application Section but for more convenience, at the end of this tutorial I will also mentioned the link once again. Install Foxitreader Download the Foxitreader from the given link at the end of the tutorial and save it on your hard disk. Go to the location where you have saved this application and double click the file. Following window will open.  Double click the Foxitreader_setup.ex e file a window will open then click on “Next” button as shown below:  In next screen click on “I agree” button as follows:  In next screen click on “Default” button as shown below:  In next screen click on “Install” button as shown below:  In next screen click on “Finish” button and here you go. Foxitreader is installed on your machine congratulations.  Install a Postscript Printer Driver Go to “Start Menu” and click on “Printers and Faxes” as shown in the figure below:  A window will open and from that window select option “Add a printer” as shown in the figure below:  “Welcome to the Add Printer Wizard” dialogue box will open and then click “Next” button as shown below:  From next screen select “Local printer attached to this computer” and click “Next” button as shown below:  From next screen select “Use the following port:” option and from the drop down list select “FILE: (Print to File)” option and then click “Next” button as shown below:  From next screen, in “Manufacturer” list scroll down to select “HP” and from “Printers” list scroll down to select “HP Color LaserJet 8500 PS” and then click “Next” button as shown below:  From next screen select “Keep existing driver (recommended)” option and click “Next” button as shown bellow:  From next screen select “Yes” option and click “Next” button as shown in figure below:  From next screen select “Do not share this printer” and click “Next” button as shown below:  From next screen select “No” option and click “Next” button as shown below:  From next screen click “Finish” button, and here you go, you have successfully installed a printer.  You can see your installed printer in “Printer and Faxes” window as shown below:  Install GhostScript GhostScript is an interpreter for the PostScript page description language used by laser printers. Now again download this application from the given link at the end of this tutorial and save it on your hard disk. Go to the location where you saved this application and double click the file. Following window will open and in that window double click the file “gs853w32.exe”:  In next screen click “Setup” button as shown below:  In next screen uncheck “All Users” and check “Install Ghostscript Fonts” & “Use Windows True Type fonts…” options and click “Install” button as shown below:  Following screen will appear and vanish after some time which means application is installed.  Install GhostScript View GhostScript view is a graphical interface for Ghostscript under MS-Windows or OS/2. Ghostscript is an interpreter for the PostScript page description language used by laser printers. For documents following the Adobe PostScript Document Structuring Conventions, GSview allows selected pages to be viewed or printed. Now once again download this application from the given link at the end of this tutorial and save it on your hard disk. Go to the location where you saved it and double click the file. Following window will open and in this window double click the file “gsv48w32.exe” as shown below:  In next screen click “Setup” button as shown below:     |
