qurbat to bari chiz hai aae jaan-e-tamanna
iss dil ki tassali ko tera naam buhat hai

kabhi sooraj ki tamanna nahi baaqi
roshni chor gai dil mein andhera aisa

lo bujh gaya kisi ki tamanna liye hoi
woh dil ke jis pe koun-o-makan ko guroor tha

khilta tha kabhi jis mein tamanna ka shagofa
khirki woh bari dair se weeran pari hai

kis dil mein bo rahe ho tamanna ke bij-o-kham
yeh dukh ki sar-zamin to kale kale gulaab de

tughe ko chuu loon t aae jaan tamanna mughe ko
dair tak apne badan se teri khushboo aae

woh to kuch tum se mohabbat si ho gai warna
hum woh khud hain ke apni bhi tamanna na karen

tu usse apni tamannaon ka markaz na bana
chand harjai hai har gher mein utar jata hai
