Yeh dariyaa rukh badalana chahata hai

wo sapna jis ki surat hi nahin hai
meri ankhoon main chalana chahata hai

diloon ki mandagi pey kia ta'ajjub
keh suuraj bhi to dhalana chahata hai

nashist-e-dard badali hey to ab dil
zaraa pahaloo badalana chahata hai

mujhey bhi samana hai karbala kaa
mera sar bhi uchalana chahata hai

nahin hai tarjumaan-e-Gam ye ansoo
yeh pani ab ubalana chahata hai

tabassum zer-e-lab kahata hai 'Amjad'
koi jazbaa machalana chahata hai
